I will always have very fond memories of Uncle Peter - canal boat holidays where he welcomed 2 teenage children on to his space for a week; not something most men on holiday would want! Stepping carefully around the Chinese carpet with due respect. Always ready to give savvy financial advice from which car to buy to best insurance deals. Willingly being my chauffeur at my wedding, fighting our way past a mad Romanian women wanting silver before we could drive to the church but helping me to arrive in style. And then of course was the frequent hospitality at an older age being allowed a glass of wine to be constantly topped up, never ending re-fills! Many a special Boxing day celebration with unexpected Christmas tree presents. From my first ever BBQ experience sitting outside on a very cold June day not quite sure what to expect to becoming a candy floss spinner at some of the fabulous celebration gatherings.
